Laws current as of October 3, 2025 If the judge gives me grandparent visitation, can the children’s parent or guardian stop or change my visits?
If the judge gives you grandparent visitation rights, the children’s parent, guardian, or legal custodian can file a petition in court asking to stop (terminate) or change (modify) your visits. However, the judge will only stop or change the visits if:
- there has been a material change in circumstances since you got the grandparent visitation order; and
- the judge believes that stopping or changing the visits is in the children’s best interests.1
