The Atlanta Bar Association Lawyer Referral and Information Service is designed to help individuals find an attorney qualified to fit their legal needs. Referral experts match individuals with an appropriate attorney in a time-efficient and friendly manner. For a referral, individuals can either call or submit an online request through their website. Referrals from the Atlanta Bar are free. However, there may be a nominal charge of $45 for certain types of legal consultations. Staff will inform clients whether their situation qualifies for a free or reduced-fee consultation.
Lawyer Referral Services
If you are a victim of abuse, you may want to ask your local Bar Association’s Lawyer Referral Service whether or not they screen for lawyers who are experienced in handling domestic violence cases. The Georgia Bar Association does not have their own lawyer referral service (LRS) but they do have a list of each county’s bar association in case you want to call your local one for an attorney recommendation. You may want to ask if there is any discounted rate for the first consultation. (In addition, we list the Atlanta Bar Association’s LRS below.) For a suggested list of questions to ask regarding the lawyer’s fees and experience when interviewing an attorney, go to our Choosing and Working with a Lawyer page.
