Apna Ghar provides programs and services to survivors of gender violence that are culturally appropriate for immigrant and refugee survivors. Services include: a 24-hour hotline and text line, safety planning, emergency shelter, transitional housing, case management, social services advocacy, counseling, legal advocacy, and supervised visitation and safe exchange services. They can help with orders of protection, filing for divorce/custody/support, immigration remedies though VAWA, and they operate a family law clinic in partnership with Chicago Volunteer Legal Services. Between Friends
Between Friends helps adult, teen, and child survivors of domestic violence. Services include: a 24-hour hotline, safety planning, counseling, legal assistance, referrals to shelters, teen dating violence prevention program, and more. Counseling is offered in English and Spanish for children, teens, adults, families, and groups. Between Friends offers free legal clinics where survivors can get legal advice on orders of protection, divorce, child custody/support, and other family law and immigration issues. Their court advocates can explain to survivors their rights and options in English and Spanish.
Connections for Abused Women and their Children
Offers bi-cultural, bilingual services (English/Spanish) and programs for domestic violence survivors and their children. Services include: a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, safety planning, counseling, onsite crisis intervention at hospitals, legal advocacy including court orders and immigration, children’s services, and more. The Humboldt Park Outreach Program offers community based counseling, advocacy, individualized treatment plans, therapy, and more. The Haymarket Center provides services for domestic violence survivors with alcohol and chemical addictions.
Family Rescue
Provides comprehensive support services in English and Spanish to victims of domestic violence and their children. Services include: a 24-hour hotline, shelter, transitional housing, children’s programs, crisis intervention, legal and social service advocacy, substance abuse counseling, court accompaniment, and more. The Rosenthal Family Lodge shelter is for women and their children who are survivors of domestic violence, including their teen male sons, to ensure that they are not separated from their mother. The Legal Advocacy Program can be reached at the Centralized Domestic Violence Court of Cook County (312-325-9300). Legal advocates provide assistance with obtaining orders of protection and police reports, court accompaniment, medical and social service advocacy, and more.
Korean American Women in Need (KAN-WIN)
KAN-WIN works to eradicate gender-based violence through comprehensive, survivor-centered services, education, and outreach to Asian American communities and beyond. Services include: a 24-hour hotline, crisis intervention, safety assessment, transitional housing program, case management, support groups, financial empowerment program, children’s program, legal advocacy, help with obtaining orders of protection, referrals to legal aid agencies, and more. The hotline has bilingual English-Korean staff and is equipped to serve immigrant speakers of other languages through an interpreter. Case management services are offered in English, Korean, and Chinese.
Life Span - Des Plaines Office
Life Span provides legal representation, counseling, court advocacy, and immigration legal services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking within Chicago and Suburban Cook County. Legal representation is offered for orders of protection, no-contact orders, divorce, and immigration cases such as VAWA, U visas, and battered spouse waivers. Legal services are available in English, Spanish, Arabic, Hindi, Urdu, Korean, Russian, and Polish, as well as in other languages through interpretation services. Individual, group, and child/teen counseling is available in English, Spanish, and Polish.

Neopolitan Lighthouse provides comprehensive support services to victims of abuse and their children on the West Side of Chicago. Services include: a 24-hour hotline, shelter up to 180 days, children’s programs, counseling, advocacy, case management, employment assistance, legal advocacy, and more. Their walk-in counseling program assists victims and their children in need of support services, but for whom shelter is either not needed, not appropriate, or not the option of choice.
SHALVA
SHALVA supports Jewish women experiencing and healing from domestic abuse through counseling, supportive services, and community education. Services include: a 24-hour hotline, individual and group counseling, legal information and support, financial assistance, information, and referrals.
