Lawyer Referral Services

If you are a victim of abuse, you may want to ask the Bar Association’s Lawyer Referral Service whether or not they screen for lawyers who are experienced in handling domestic violence cases. The North Carolina Bar Association Lawyer Referral Service (LRS) matches attorneys with people who seek attorney referrals. The LRS can give referrals by phone or online. Their website offers self-referral, which is a search for lawyers by legal area and county for people who already know what type they need. The website also offers an option to request a referral, for people who do not know what type of lawyer they need. The LRS member lawyer will charge no more than $50 for an initial 30-minute consultation. Each lawyer sets their own fees for consultations longer than 30 minutes and for ongoing representation.
