EspañolLegal Aid of NorthWest Texas (LANWT) offers free civil legal assistance to low-income Texans. They serve 115 counties in Texas with 15 offices; the Abilene office serves Stonewall, Nolan, Taylor, Mitchell, Scurry, Fischer, Jones, Haskell, Throck-Morton, Shackel-Ford, Stephens, Eastland and Callahan counties. They are able to represent clients in any type of civil matter. Their practice focuses on support for families, preserving the home, maintaining, economic stability, safety, stability, and health, individuals with special needs and problems affecting groups of individuals. Specifically they take cases with domestic violence such as, adoption, child abuse and neglect, child custody, divorces involving family violence, enforcement of access and visitation, modification of visitation/custody, parental rights termination, paternity, termination and adoption when abuse is alleged and visitation enforcement.

Texas RioGrande Legal Aid, Inc. (Alpine office)
Texas RioGrande Legal Aid (TRLA) provides free legal services to low-income residents in sixty-eight counties of Southwest Texas. The Alpine office serves Brewster, Culberson, Jeff Davis, Pecos, Presidio and Reeves counties. The majority of TRLA clients are low-income women and children who are victims of domestic violence and who need assistance in escaping violence and remaining violence-free. To qualify for free legal services from TRLA, an applicant must meet the income, asset, and immigration requirements established by the United States Congress, the Texas Legislature, and other funding sources. TRLA will always attempt to find a funding source that will permit representation for persons who are unable to afford the services of a private attorney. Services are provided in English and Spanish.

Their practice focuses on support for families, preserving the home, maintaining, economic stability, safety, stability, and health, individuals with special needs and problems affecting groups of individuals. Specifically they take cases with domestic violence such as, adoption, child abuse and neglect, child custody, divorces involving family violence, enforcement of access and visitation, modification of visitation/custody, parental rights termination, paternity, termination and adoption when abuse is alleged and visitation enforcement.

Lone Star Legal Aid (Angleton office)
Lone Star Legal Aid provides legal services, including representation, to low income residents of 72 counties in Texas from 12 offices. The Angleton office serves Brazoria, Colorado, Matagorda and Wharton counties. They provide services for a variety of legal issues including issues regarding domestic violence and family law. Lone Star Legal Aid will provide assistance to those with limited English skills.

Asian Family Support Services of Austin
Asian Family Support Services of Austin, or AFSSA (formerly SAHELI), provides assistance to Asian and other immigrant families dealing with domestic violence, sexual assault and trafficking. AFSSA’s specific programs include: The Survivor Assistance Program, which provides crisis intervention services, advocacy for legal and immigration matters, individual and group counseling and hotline services, hospital accompaniment, help applying for protective orders and making police reports, therapeutic counseling and basic needs such as safety planning, food and shelter. The Economic Empowerment Program, which helps survivors find employment and access education to gain independence and become self-sufficient. The Legal Services Program, which helps increase access to legal services for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and trafficking and providing direct representation in civil courts and administrative tribunals. Asian Family Support Services serves Travis, Williamson, Hays and Bastrop Counties.
Catholic Charities of Central Texas: Immigration Legal Services (Austin Office)
Catholic Charities of Central Texas provides low-cost legal representation in immigration matters. Representation includes, but is not limited to family based immigration, permanent resident card replacement or renewal, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), visas for victims of crime and human trafficking, naturalization, and asylum. Clients must be at or below the 200% federal poverty guidelines to access services.
Family Violence Protection Team
The Family Violence Protection Team (FVPT) is a collaborative, community response to family violence that provides multiple services at one location. They improve access to law enforcement, counseling, crisis management and legal services for survivors of family violence and their children. The Family Violence Protection Team serves Travis County.

Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas
Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas (VLS) is an organization that provides civil legal services to low-income people through attorney volunteers in Travis County. Their attorneys help people with cases such as helping victims of abuse end violent relationships, connecting persons with disabilities with medical and financial benefits, and keeping people out of homelessness by defending against wrongful evictions and foreclosures.
