Laws current as of June 24, 2025 Will I have to testify about the abuse or be interviewed by the government?
In November 2024, USCIS announced that it will interview some VAWA self-petitioners who have a pending green card application (Form I-485). (As of June 2025, the interview requirement does not apply to you if you have not filed Form I-485.) If you are selected for an interview, the immigration officer will ask you questions about the abuse. You should ask your lawyer or DOJ accredited representative how to prepare for the interview, and you may bring your lawyer or representative with you.
