If you are a victim of abuse, you may want to ask the Bar Association’s Lawyer Referral Service whether or not they screen for lawyers who are experienced in handling domestic violence cases. Hartford County Bar Association
Hartford County Bar Association (HCBA) Lawyer Referral Service (LRS) is designed to assist people who have legal needs and wish to consult with a private attorney but do not know who to call. Lawyer Referral Service will refer the client to an attorney who is in good standing of the Connecticut bar. All referrals are made over the phone. There is a $25 fee for the referral and entitles the client to a 30-minute consultation with the attorney. Lawyer Referral Service serves Connecticut.
New Haven County Bar Association
New Haven County Bar Association (NHCBA) provides two ways for individuals in need of legal service to find a lawyer. The first, is through the Lawyer Referral Service (LRS). LRS helps individuals connect with an attorney who concentrates their practice in the type of law in which the client needs assistance. There is a $35 non-refundable processing fee. The first 30-minute consultation is free. The second option is Ask-A-Lawyer Clinic (AAL). Sessions are held at area libraries in New Haven, Branford, Northford, North Branford, Cheshire, and East Haven, as well as on-site at Yale University. Ask-A-Lawyer provides members of the community with general legal information; an attorney meets with the participant and provides a free 10-15 minute consultation. If the client decides to retain an attorney through LRS, they will be charged a reduced fee of $15 rather than the regular $35.
New London County Bar Association Lawyer Referral Service
New London County Bar Association Lawyer Referral Service matches individuals who need a lawyer with a lawyer who meets their specific needs. The Lawyer Referral Service will charge clients a small fee to cover the costs of the referral and collected by the attorney at the first appointment.
