As of July 1, 2025, a new law lets members of Georgia’s organized militia (National Guard, Georgia Naval Militia, or State Defense Force)1 get protective orders from stalking if they are being stalked by another member.
It allows a service member to file a verified petition through their chain of command, which is then sent to the Office of the State Judge Advocate. A military judge can issue temporary or permanent protective orders to stop stalking. Commanders and law enforcement must enforce these orders across the state.2
We will be adding more details about this new law soon. In the meantime, you can read the full text of the law on our Selected Georgia Statutes page.
