Custody

Domestic abuse is committed by one family member, household member, or dating partner against another. Louisiana law defines domestic abuse to include, but not be limited to, the following acts:

• physical abuse;
• sexual abuse;
• any offense listed in the Criminal Code of Louisiana, except negligent injury and defamation; and
• abuse of adults, when committed by an adult child or grandchild.¹
