Can my order be ended early (extinguished)?

You may file to ask the court to end (extinguish) your order if you believe you no longer need protection.1 The abuser, however, may not file a motion to end your final order.2 They can only ask the court to end a temporary order or modify a final order.3 If the abuser files a motion to end a final order, the judge can dismiss the motion without a hearing or asking you to respond.2

If you want to ask the court to end your order, you may wish to speak to an advocate about safety planning before you do.
