How do I get an extreme risk protection order?

The steps to get an extreme risk protection order are similar to the steps to get a domestic violence restraining order, but you will fill out different forms and go to the supreme court in your county.

You can file an application if you believe that the respondent is likely to hurt themselves or others. You should include a statement that you know or have reason to believe that the respondent owns, has, or has access to a firearm, rifle, or shotgun. You should also include information about the location of those guns and be as specific as possible.1
