Alternatives to Domestic Violence
The Alternatives to Domestic Violence (ADV) program is a division of the Bergen County Department of Human Services, exclusively devoted to domestic violence intervention. Services include: a 24-hour hotline, safety planning, help applying for the Address Confidentiality Program and Crime Victim Compensation, safe housing, support groups, LGBTQIA+ group, legal advocacy, court appearance preparation, and more. Many of their services are available in English, Spanish, and Korean. For all other languages, interpretation services are available.
Center for Hope & Safety
Center for Hope & Safety provides services to domestic violence victims in Bergen County. Services include: a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, transitional housing, counseling, legal advocacy, safety planning, children’s programs, case management, career counseling, and more. Their Legal Services program provides free legal assistance with restraining orders, custody, visitation, child support, spousal support, immigration, divorce, and other related family law matters. They offer multicultural services for Latinx and other minority/underserved victims with priority issues such as immigration status, housing, medical insurance, mental health services, and financial issues.

Providence House Domestic Violence Services – Burlington County
Providence House Domestic Violence Services provides services to victims of domestic violence and their children. Services include: a 24-hour hotline, confidential emergency safe house, children’s counseling, individual counseling, community education, support groups, legal advocacy, a program for African-American female victims, and more.
Camden
Camden County Domestic Violence Center
Camden County Domestic Violence Center, formerly Camden County Women’s Center, provides services to survivors of domestic violence. Services include: a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, safety planning, court preparation and accompaniment, help with temporary restraining orders, counseling, outreach and support services, children’s programs, and more. All services available in English and Spanish.
Hispanic Family Center of Southern NJ, Inc.
The Hispanic Family Center (HFC) provides a range of social services and advocacy programs, including community services, family strengthening, behavioral health, utility assistance, and support for survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. HFC’s bilingual domestic violence advocacy and counseling program services include: support groups, workshops, court accompaniment, legal advocacy, and workforce preparation in a culturally and linguistically appropriate manner. The legal advocate assists victims with referrals to lawyers for matters such as restraining orders, child custody, and applying for U and T visas. Serving Camden, Gloucester, and Burlington counties.

Coalition Against Rape and Abuse
The Coalition Against Rape and Abuse (C.A.R.A.) helps victims and survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. Services include: a 24-hour hotline, confidential shelter, counseling, advocacy, safety planning, LGBTQIA+ program, children’s program, support groups, and more. They offer free legal counseling and representation to survivors seeking restraining orders.
Essex
Access Family Services
Access Family Services provides services to victims of domestic violence in Essex County and the surrounding areas. Their services include: 24-hour hotline in English and Spanish, emergency shelter, transitional housing program, counseling, support groups for adults and children, mental health services, education programs, assistance with restraining orders, and more. No victim is denied service based on inability to speak English or immigration status.
Essex Center for Women
The Essex Center for Women offers career and support services to women who must enter or re-enter the workforce to provide for themselves and their families. Services include: career counseling, computer classes, family law consultations (for a fee), health and wellness workshops, and more.
Essex County Family Justice Center
Provides comprehensive services in one location for domestic violence victims and their children. Services include: crisis intervention, counseling, safety planning, orientation to the criminal justice system, support groups in English and Spanish, and information about legal issues such as restraining orders and custody. They can give referrals for assistance with immigration and other related civil legal matters. Center staff are bilingual.
The Safe House
The Safe House provides safe, temporary shelter for battered women and their children located in Essex County. A 24-hour hotline provides timely and immediate assistance. Shelter admission can be obtained by calling the Hotline. Also provided are: emergency medical treatment; emotional support; counseling; assistance with welfare and child care; vocational and educational referrals; legal advocacy; housing advocacy; help in police and court proceedings; and nutritional meals.

Services Empowering the Rights of Victims (SERV)
Services Empowering Rights of Victims (SERV) provides services to victims and survivors of sexual violence, domestic violence, and human trafficking. Services include: a 24-hour hotline, online chat, crisis intervention, legal advocacy, safe housing, education, counseling, support groups, and pet advocacy/housing. All services are free, confidential, culturally sensitive, and bilingual. SERV provides sexual violence and human trafficking services in Camden, Cumberland, and Gloucester counties; and domestic violence services in Gloucester and Cumberland counties.

WomenRising is a community-based organization that assists women and their families to achieve self-sufficiency and live safe, productive, and fulfilling lives. Their domestic violence services include: a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, counseling, crisis intervention, support groups, safety planning, assistance with legal rights, restraining orders, and court accompaniment, and more. Services are offered in English and Spanish. Serving Hudson County.
Hunterdon
SAFE in Hunterdon
SAFE in Hunterdon serves survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, and works in collaboration with community partners and providers to offer trauma-informed services. Their services include: a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, legal advocacy, counseling, community outreach, prevention programs, and more. Their response teams can provide support, accompaniment, and advocacy with police and hospitals. The shelter offers stays for up to 60 days for victims and their children, with individualized care, case management, counseling, and legal advocacy. Counseling services are available in English and Spanish.
Mercer
Womanspace
Womanspace provides services to those impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault. Service include: a 24-hour hotline, crisis intervention, emergency shelter, counseling, court advocacy, housing services, children’s programs, and more. The confidential shelter offers up to a 30-day stay, and has an optional onsite homeschool program for school-aged children. Their domestic violence and sexual assault response teams are available to meet victims at the police station and at hospitals. Womanspace also has a Deaf Advocacy Project, which trains Deaf volunteers to provide holistic, culturally appropriate services to Deaf survivors. Serving Mercer County.

Women Aware provides services to individuals and families affected by domestic violence in Middlesex County. Services include: a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, legal advocacy, community education, support groups, counseling for children and adults, creative arts therapy, safety planning, case management, life skills, and more. Services offered in English and Spanish.
Monmouth
180 Turning Lives Around
180 Turning Lives Around provides services for survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Services include: a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, creative arts therapy for children, counseling, safety planning, LGBTQ+ community program, court advocacy, and more. The shelter is pet-friendly and offers family housing for 30-60 days, including basic necessities, counseling, youth advocacy, legal advocacy, and more. Counseling services are offered in English and Spanish. Online chat available on their website.
Monmouth County Family Justice Center
The Family Justice Center offers coordinated services for survivors of domestic and sexual violence, child abuse, and human trafficking in one safe place to meet survivors’ immediate needs. The Center provides access to resources, crisis support, legal assistance, immigration assistance, case management, and counseling services all in one place, through referrals to partner agencies. Family Court Liaisons are also available in court to assist survivors through the restraining order process.
Morris
Jersey Battered Women's Services (JBWS)
Jersey Battered Women’s Services (JBWS) serves survivors of dating, domestic, or partner abuse, and their families. Services include: a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, transitional housing, counseling, support groups, legal advocacy, batterer’s intervention, assistance with restraining orders, and more. Services offered in English and Spanish, and interpreters are available.
Morris Family Justice Center
The Morris Family Justice Center (MFJC) is a walk-in location that provides necessary services to survivors of domestic violence, dating abuse, and sexual assault, in one place. Agencies come together at the center to work with victims during their crisis and afterward, and include social service agencies, county government, law enforcement, and the court. Services include: counseling, support groups in English and Spanish, safety planning, legal and immigration assistance, children’s services, culturally specific services for Spanish-speaking survivors, and more. MFJC focuses on supporting language needs and has bilingual Spanish-speaking staff.
Rachel Coalition of Jewish Family Service
Rachel Coalition serves victims of domestic violence, intimate partner violence, and people in high conflict relationships. Services include: individual counseling, children’s counseling, support groups, safety planning, community education, and training. The legal team provides direct legal representation on final restraining orders and court advocacy for victims in Essex, Union, Hudson, and Morris counties.

Passaic County Domestic and Sexual Violence Center
Passaic County Domestic and Sexual Violence Center, formerly the Passaic County Women’s Center, serves survivors, their children, and their support persons. Services include: a 24-hour hotline, temporary shelter up to 60 days, a domestic violence response team, a sexual assault response team, case management, counseling, support groups, legal advocacy, help filing for restraining orders, children’s services, children’s therapeutic program, and more. Services are available from bilingual/bicultural advocates in Spanish and Arabic.

Strengthen Our Sisters is a shelter program serving battered/homeless women and their children. Services include: a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, transitional housing, food, clothing, legal services, battered women’s support group, child care, job training, workshops, help filing restraining orders, and more.
Wafa House
Wafa House was founded to address domestic violence issues in the Muslim community. Wafa provides recovery services that are linguistically and culturally sensitive, and that cater to the needs of Middle Eastern and South Asian survivors. Services include: social services, mental health counseling, legal services, play therapy for children, bilingual case management, outreach and prevention, and more. Legal services are available in English and Arabic to qualifying clients for court proceedings related to divorce, child custody, domestic violence, sexual violence, and protection orders. Counseling is available in English, Arabic, and Urdu. Serving Passaic County.

Safe+Sound Somerset
Safe+Sound Somerset provides free services to survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence. Services include: a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter up to 60 days, counseling, legal advocacy, intervention services, safety planning, and education. Services are provided in English and Spanish, and translation services are available for other languages. Serving Somerset County.

Union County Family Justice Center
The Union County Family Justice Center (FJC) is a joint initiative of the County of Union, the Union County Prosecutor’s Office, and the YWCA Union County to provide services to victims of domestic violence and their families. The mission of the FJC is to provide coordinated services from county government, law enforcement, domestic violence agencies, social service agencies, and the court. Services available include: counseling, case management, social services, legal assistance (restraining orders, child support/custody, and divorce), preparation for court proceedings, victim advocacy, and more.
YWCA Union County
YWCA Union County provides domestic violence services to victims in the county. Services include: a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter for up to 90 days, housing for up to 2 years, counseling, creative arts therapy for children, safety planning, support groups, case management, documentation assistance, and more. YWCA also partners with other agencies at the Union County Family Justice Center. Services are provided in English and Spanish.
Warren

The Domestic Abuse & Sexual Assault Crisis Center provides services to all those impacted by interpersonal violence. Services include: a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, individual and group counseling, sexual assault response team, domestic violence response team, legal advocacy, case management, prevention education, abuse intervention program, and more. The shelter is pet-friendly and has a kennel to house pets of different sizes, and all have heating and cooling. Online chat is available through their website.
